Florida is obviously popular with retirees.  There is no state income tax, and although real estate property is taxed at its full valuation, residents receive a homestead exemption up to $50,000 per year on a primary residence.  There is no inheritance or estate tax, and the state does not tax unearned income (such as Social Security).
