Nevada Taxes

Nevada is a tax friendly state for retirement.   It has a 6.86% state sales tax (food and prescription drugs are exempt) but no income tax so Social Security is not taxed.   When it comes to property taxes, real estate is assessed at 35% of fair market value, and resident homeowners age 62 or better who earn less than $28,678 per year may receive a tax rebate of $500 or up to 90% of the taxes paid.
