One of the great things about
living in a covenant controlled active adult community is that
communal areas are maintained by the community.
Nearly all HOA communities will plow snow (if there is any), haul
away trash and pay for sewer and water. Others will
also mow lawns and maintain homes' exteriors. But for people
not yet in a planned active adult community, a few Spring exterior
maintenance activities that should be undertaken this time of year
include cleaning basement window wells, cleaning gutters,
inspecting caulk on windows and doors, checking sprinkler heads,
trimming branches that are touching the house and inspecting the
roof. While it is never fun to pay an active adult
community's monthly HOA fee, doing so takes care of all of these
chores for you.
