Texas Taxes

Texas is a tax friendly state for retirees.  It has no state income tax, and Social Security benefits and other retirement income are not taxed.   Property taxes are determined by local tax communities. Homeowners that are 65 and better may take advantage of a $15,000 homestead exemption, and the first $10,000 of a property's assessed value is exempt from school taxes, as well (and the first $3000 is exempt from local taxes).
