Why Would Someone Age 55+ Retire in an All Ages Development?

While communities designed for people age 55 or better have a lot of benefits, not everyone wants to retire in a development where most of the residents are the same age and often of the same socioeconomic backgrounds.    All ages community by law cannot discriminate based on age so they nearly always have a wide range of residents, from families and single professionals to empty nesters and often retirees.   Many all ages neighborhoods are organic, that is having having grown over time and never having been "master planned."    These usually do not have amenities such as a pool, tennis courts, etc.  But more and more all ages communities are master planned, gated, with covenants and HOA fees.  Retirees often prefer these to 55+ communities because they allow more interaction with people from more cross sections of the country.
