On Top of the World Communities is a colorful, age-restricted, master-planned retirement community located on 13,000 acres in southwest Ocala, Florida.   This land, once belonging to the Norris Cattle Company and also known as Circle Square Ranch, is today home to three beautiful, gated, 55+ neighborhoods with 3,500 single-family homes, but the development has plans to build several nearby multi-generational neighborhoods, as well, and offer amenities to the entire community.

The three current neighborhoods are Indigo East, Chandler Hills and Windsor.  Each is just a short drive from the other, and they are all adjacent to the new, yet old-fashioned, lovely Circle Square Commons, home to a town center, salon and day spa, restaurants and cafes, a 1,000-seat community center, numerous shops and an art museum.

On Top of the World Communities has three home categories (or "collections").  These are the Classic Homes, Premier Homes and Estate Homes.  All homes in each are ranch-style, and each collection of homes has 5 to 6 floor plans for a total of 17 floor plans in all.   Classic Homes have fairly standard features while Estate Homes and Premier Homes tend to have upgraded features, such as higher ceilings, deeper carpets and tiled shower floors.

Indigo East has electronic front gates with camera surveillance and boasts scenic walking trails and massive oak trees that give the community the feel of an older, established neighborhood.   The 10-acre preserve on the neighborhood's east side is the starting point for a patchwork of parks, affectionately called “Little Indigos," giving Indigo East a nice sense of spaciousness.   Homes here range in size from 1,300 square feet to a little over 1,700 square feet and are priced from $188,500 to $220,990.  Much of the landscaping is Xeriscaping, designed for saving water.

Windsor is a pretty, comfortable neighborhood with palm-tree lined streets and homes from the Classic Homes collection and the Premier Homes collection.    Homes are sized 1,330 square feet to roughly 2,100 square feet and priced from $188,500 to $277,430.

Chandler Hills, home to the 18-hole, 7,300 yard, 72-par, semi-private Chandler Hills Golf Course, which winds its way through the community, is more upscale and has a 24-hour, staffed entrance gate.  Homes are larger and slightly more expensive; buyers choose models from the Premier Homes and Estate Home collections, and sizes range in size from 1,750 square feet to nearly 2,300 square feet.  Prices begin at $249,430 and top out at $287,740.  A 25-acre preserve adds to the beauty of this neighborhood.  Upgrades will add to the price.

Every new home is an Energy Star award-winning home and built of concrete block and stucco; each one comes with a two-car garage, a covered entry and lanai and are Internet-ready and cable-ready.

A program that sets On Top of the World Communities apart from other retirement communities is its Master the Possibilities Program located in the Life Options Center in the Circle Square Commons; here residents may take all kinds of wellness, educational and cultural classes, many of which are taught by seasoned professionals and experts in their fields from all over Marion County.

Amenities abound.  In addition to the Chandler Hills Golf Club, this community has two private golf courses, the Tortoise and the Hare, a 72-par course, and The Links, also a 72-par course.   Neither have tee times; play is first-come, first-served.  There are no membership fees, just daily or annual greens' fees.  The Arbor Club houses five tennis courts, has an on-site tennis pro and provides indoor and outdoor swimming pools.  The Health & Recreation building is home to a full gym with sauna/steam/shower rooms and state-of-the-art gym equipment with free orientations.   There is even an RC airplane field.

Ocala (population 46,000) is located in central Florida and has earned the title of “Horse Capitol of the World” for its many beautiful horse farms.   Great salt-water fishing, beautiful sunrises and sunsets and endless opportunities to lounge on a Florida beach are all about 1 1/2 hours away.   West Marion Community Hospital is five minutes away.

The weather is relatively mild when compared to the coastal areas of Florida.  An average high winter temperature in the winter is 60°F.   In the summer, temperatures range from the 70's to 90's with 70% humidity.

For anyone who would like to visit before buying, On Top of the World Communities offers a 3 Day/2 Night Visitation Program that includes a round of 18-hole golf (fees not included) and a tour of all amenities and model homes.  Cost is $129 per couple.  Phone (800) 421-4162 for more information.
