Public interior spaces have the feel of an elegant,
upscale hotel, and outdoor public spaces are beautifully landscaped
with lush grassy expanses, gardens, palm trees and walking
paths. Each condominium building has front desk and
concierge services, 24-hour manned security and valet
parking. The large clubhouse sits on an island in the
middle of the lake, accessible by a 70 foot walking
bridge. Here residents find a lovely restaurant with
poolside dining, private dining rooms, a game room, a library with
internet access, a conference room, a beauty salon, a
state-of-the-art fitness room and an on-site medical clinic.
Outside is a 22,000 square foot deck perfect for lounging and
sipping gin and tonics. The architectural team that designed
the Palace at Weston also designed the Ritz-Carlton in South Beach,
as well as other hotel properties, and is known for its quality
high-end projects. Fort Lauderdale, with a population
of roughly 190,000 people, is a major tourist destination as well as
a popular yachting center and has 165 miles of canals and waterways
within city limits, giving it the nickname "Venice of
America." Summer temperatures
in the area reach into the 80s and 90s (cooling into the 60s and 70s
at night), and winters see temperatures in the 60s and 70s.
Rains average 5 to 10 inches per month (the five month summer period
brings the majority of the rain), and average relative humidity
ranges between 70% and 85%. It should be pointed out,
too, that the city has been in the path of hurricanes and was struck
by two recent ones, Katrina and Wilma, both in 2005.
