Seasons on Lake Lanier is a
gated, waterfront, active-adult community nestled in the
Blue Ridge Mountains thirty miles north of Atlanta.
It is age-restricted, and the lovely homes here are
detached, single-family structures built by Levitt and
Sons, the same company that in 1949 built Levittown, New
York, the first planned community in the nation.
Lake Lanier itself is one of the county's largest man-made
lakes and has 692 miles of shoreline. Residents of
Seasons on Lake Lanier enjoy beautiful lake views, clean
air and plenty of outdoor recreation.

This
community has a peaceful, private setting with mountains all around
and 215-acres of preserved green spaces; walking trails are
extensive, and the lake offers opportunities for unlimited
year-round water activities. The 28,000 square-foot Grand
Clubhouse has boat slips, which are also available to residents for
a fee. The Health and Fitness Center houses eight clay and
all-weather tennis courts, an indoor and an outdoor pool, and there
is a horticulture center with gardens and a greenhouse.
Residents also enjoy an amphitheatre that overlooks the lake, a
250-seat performing arts center and an arts and crafts studio with
two large kilns.
With
Atlanta so close, seniors here can easily partake in the best of
both worlds, the quiet, mountain-getaway ambiance of Seasons on Lake
Lanier and the hustle and bustle of a great American city and all
that it has to offer. While not a great American city,
Gainesville, where the community is located, is a nice, growing town
of about 30,000 people. There are a fair number of
decent restaurants, two medical facilities, seven churches, a
library, a municipal airport, a Publix, a Target, a Home Depot, and,
unfortunately, a Wal-Mart so most needs can be attended to locally.
Crime
here is higher than the national average but most crimes are
property-related.
The
climate here is subtropical; winters see temperatures ranging from
the 30s to the 50s; summer can be very hot and humid with daytime
temperatures reaching the 90s. Humidity is in the 70% to 80%
range, depending on time of day. Gainesville receives a lot of
precipitation, four to five inches of rain per month, with an
occasional dusting of snow during winter months. The
elevation is 1,245 feet, and the sun shines roughly 50% of the
time. Autumns are spectacular.
