The community started with 350 homes but now has nearly 700 or so properties with nine different floorplans. It was developed by Sobel Company but is now owned by Sun Communities.
Properties look site-built and sizes range from approximately 1,020 square feet to approximately 2,800 square feet with two to three bedrooms. Features include a fireplace, a skylight, a sunroom, custom cabinetry and a custom deck. All residences have an attached garage and a front porch, and many back to a lake or a wooded area. Lawns are well maintained.
Prices start in the high-$100,000s. Most homes have a lot fee in the $500 to $750 per month range, depending on the property’s age and location. The fee covers street maintenance, lighting, trash pick-up, lawn mowing, amenities access and the land rental. Please verify these prices with a Realtor as they will change down the road.
The clubhouse boasts a heated pool, a state-of-the-art fitness center, an indoor Jacuzzi, a computer center, tennis courts, a library, a hobbies studio and aerobics classes. Outside is a private fishing pier and a lakeside beach. The community employs an activities director so there are plenty of social and recreational get-togethers year-round.
One of the oldest towns in South Carolina, Conway started out in 1734 and sits along the Waccamaw River. It is fast-growing and attracts families and retirees looking for proximity to the ocean and a lower cost of living. Parts of Conway are a little bedraggled, but giant moss-draped live oaks and distinctive homes create a classic Southern tableau.
